A Dune Escape is an holiday eco house nestled into the dunes of Emu Bay, a quiet coastal hamlet located on the northern coast of Kangaroo Island with safe swimming, a jetty and a boat ramp. Emu Bay accommodation serves as an ideal base for discovering and touring the island due to its central location and its proximity to Kingscote.
Emu Bay to Kingscote is 18km along a bitumen sealed road and from the holiday house to the airport takes 15-20 mins. In Kingscote (the Island's main town) you will find most services including supermarket, post office, bank, tourist information etc. The Sealink ferry arrives from the mainland at Penneshaw. The distance from Penneshaw to Emu Bay is approximately 75km, all on bitumen, sealed roads.
Activities
Kangaroo Island is one of Australia’s greatest scenic treasures and a must for anyone interested in travel to fascinating wilderness destinations. Take pleasure in the local wildlife to be found, including kangaroos, wallabies, echidnas and the sounds of abundant birdlife whilst roaming through natural garden like bush land over the 15-hectare private property.
Walk just 30 metres from your front door of the holiday house to enjoy breathtaking exclusively private views of the sand and ocean, climb on down the dune to take a swim, snorkel or just relax at the beach. Stroll along the often deserted beach at sunrise or sunset and you can often see dolphins.
Fishing Charters can be arranged or you can fish off of the historic Emu Bay jetty. Cycle along the beach or throughout the area or kayak on the smooth ocean waters (own equipment needed).
Visit the local Emu Bay Lavender farm next door for lunch or a morning coffee.
